Yesterday we went hiking the the Drift Creek Falls Trail. It was a beautiful hike....nicely shaded trail through beautiful tall trees, ferns and streams. The trail ended at a 250 ft. suspension bridge over a stream and looking out over a waterfall.
To get to the trailhead, you had to drive 10 miles up a mountain on a one-lane road. Several sections along the road are being prepared for logging. We saw these amazing piles of tree branches and stuff just piled up along the road. We kept wondering what was going to happen with these piles. The most bizarre thing about these piles was the fact that some of them had a sheet of black plastic on the top. Clearly the sheet of plastic was not large enough to cover the pile...so what is it all about? Does anyone have any ideas?
