When Rich finished working on Thursday (yes, it is partly a working vacation), we decided to walk over to the cute little restaurant/shopping area to see if we could find somewhere to have a cool, refreshing adult beverage before we went to dinner. We found a wine bar/bistro that has an outside patio that apparently has a jazz band play every Thursday evening. And wouldn't you know it, it just happened to be Thursday. It also turned out to be the last Thursday that they would be playing for the summer. That's the day that they invite many of the local musicians and singers to come jam with them. So the quiet little jazz trio turned into a raucous jazz and blues night with some amazingly talented people.
It was a very intimate setting and the band leader was very gregarious. He made it a point to make the audience feel like they were all part of a very special evening. After a couple of hours of music, a few glasses of wine and a fruit and cheese platter, we no longer felt the need for dinner. We loved the idea of accidentally stumbling on a fun time.
