Baby's First Stitches

Ok, so maybe I'm not a baby, but these are my first stitches (other than surgical). There was an "incident" at work this morning where I sliced my finger on a very sharp metal magnetic strip "of death". I didn't think I should get stitches, but after bleeding all over the office, my co-workers voted and said I had to go get it checked out.

The doctor at the urgent care said that I had sliced through my fat layer. (I thought that was very rude) He suggested that stitches would definitely be advisable. So, three stitches later, I was on my way back to the office.

Michelle told me to make sure I got a lollipop. The nurse did not offer any candy, but did give me this cute mini-condom to help keep my finger dry.

What will you do when you Retire?

Rich and I plan to retire in about 5 years. Quite often when I mention that we are looking forward to retirement, I am asked the question: "What will you do when you're retired?". I decided to compile a list of things that we plan to do. This list is just a tiny sampling of what we are looking forward to:

  1. Time to take more walks/hikes.
  2. Read more books.
  3. Spending as much time as we want in the morning reading the paper and drinking coffee.
  4. Spending more time with the grandkid(s).
  5. Traveling as much as possible. Unfortunately there may not be as much of that thanks to 8 years of George Bush.
  6. Visiting friends and family.
  7. Maybe doing a better job of cleaning the house.
  8. Bike rides (without falling down).
  9. Volunteering.
  10. Whatever we feel like doing that day!!!

Just Because it's February?

I keep wracking my brain trying to think of something interesting to blog about, but I got nothin'.

I could talk about painting the guest room and getting ready for new carpeting, but who wants to hear about that.

The economy sucks so we made a pact to not spend "fun" money for the whole month of February.

It's either an inversion or snowing. So if you want to be outside, you are either breathing particulates or shoveling snow.

I should probably start thinking about what I want to do in the yard this spring, but I'm not ready to start thinking about working outside yet.

Maybe I'll just take a nap and hibernate till Spring.

Thank you, Craigslist

We just sold our entertainment center on Craigslist. Some very nice young people came and picked it up this morning. Ah yes. That's one item of stress removed from my list of "Things causing Me Stress This Week".
