Baby's First Stitches

Ok, so maybe I'm not a baby, but these are my first stitches (other than surgical). There was an "incident" at work this morning where I sliced my finger on a very sharp metal magnetic strip "of death". I didn't think I should get stitches, but after bleeding all over the office, my co-workers voted and said I had to go get it checked out.

The doctor at the urgent care said that I had sliced through my fat layer. (I thought that was very rude) He suggested that stitches would definitely be advisable. So, three stitches later, I was on my way back to the office.

Michelle told me to make sure I got a lollipop. The nurse did not offer any candy, but did give me this cute mini-condom to help keep my finger dry.

After all these years, I don't think I knew you never experienced stitches from an accident. Hell, your brothers always got hurt. I expected you had, too. Nice condum, Sweety.

Wow mom, way to go.

I totally thought you'd had stitches, too. You cut yourself on pretty much everything.

Did you get a tetanus shot too?

Not to worry, I had my DTAP shot last year. It's all good.

Ooooh, ouchie. I don't think I have ever had stitches from an accident, either. I will steer clear of the magnetic strip of death.

OUCHIE!!!!

Did they make you hold your stitched hand up over your heart for the rest of the day?

A hundred years ago, while working in a deli shop, I sliced off part of my first finger. They put this ridiculous, fat, white bandage on it and made me hold it up over my heart. I looked like I was signaling "#1" all day. The boss couldn't understand why I couldn't make more sandwiches and why I wanted to go home.

Hope your boss was nicer!
